I was a senior in college in 1978 when I wrote my first opinion piece that touched on airline deregulation. It was an editorial in The Cornell Daily Sun (“Ithaca’s only morning newspaper”!) I wrote, “When Kahn began hacking away at airline protectionism the airlines screamed, but today fares are lower, passenger volume is way up and airlines are actually profiting. People complain about high fares, unreliable service, lack of legroom and so on. The public’s disgruntlement has created an opening for talk about some pretty extreme solutions.

We’re looking back at the strongest, smartest opinion takes of the week from CNN and other outlets. Last week, as Israel continued its military response to the October 7 Hamas terror attack, its political goals — and potential endgame — remained a source of huge controversy. Join us on Twitter and Facebook“Take, for example, the Israel Defense Forces strike on Gaza’s Jabalya refugee camp on Tuesday. “Following the horrific massacre in Israel by Hamas terrorists on October 7, I felt an intense, relentless grief. Though Perry wanted to escape Chandler, he kept him around, because heaven forbid anyone saw what he was hiding.”

Editor’s Note: Gabriel Levin is a sophomore at Cornell University and a columnist for The Cornell Daily Sun. CNN —An arrest has been made after evil posts online called for the eradication of Jews at Cornell, the university I attend. Even though the suspect, a fellow student, is in federal custody, the constant threat of anti-Semitism looms over us still. I applied to Cornell University, where I’m now in my sophomore year, in part to get away from all that. My classmate who allegedly made those heinous threats against Jews wanted us to cower in fear, or worse, return hate for hate.

His brother David turned him in after reading the terrorist's manifesto. The tip that ultimately helped the FBI find and arrest Kaczynski came from his very own brother, David. "I felt a kind of chill," David recalled at the 2007 lecture. Following the arrest, authorities found a number bombs being built in Ted's cabin, one of which was addressed, intended to be sent to his next victim."
